Just asking (12): how could Jacob?

Leon Bonnat: Jacob Wrestling with the Angel [1876, pencil and black chalk on paper, 20 3/4 x 14 1/2 in., New York, Dahesh Museum of Art.] (Léon Bonnat, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons)

Jacob was renamed Israel that moment.

He was alone.
Family all left.
Wealth all left him.

Wrestled with an angel, all by himself.
No other help.

Then the angel touched Jacob’s hip. Right there and then Jacob became weak.

It was at this point that Jacob demanded: “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”(Gen 32:26, NIV)

I’m just asking.
How could he issue the demand?
Where did a lame Jacob get the strength to keep the angel from leaving?

Where did the demand get its force?
I’m just asking.
